North Dakota is becoming more economically diverse from its agriculture-based past. Energy development is the Western Portion of the State has changed the economic of the state tremendously.
North Dakota does have a state income tax which makes it a desired location. Most companies in North Dakota do not compensate at the National Market Rate for salary and hourly making North Dakota less enticing to take a position if offered.
Fargo is the main economic hub and by far the largest region in North Dakota with almost one third of North Dakota population living the Fargo metro area. Other areas are Bismarck the state had becoming a hub for the energy industry.
Winters are brutal and summers are sometimes extremely hot but usually nice and the best time of year to be there.
